Brandon Peak Secures Record-Setting Verdict: $280 Million

PWMC lawyers Brandon Peak, Joel Wooten, and Chris McDaniel obtained a $280 million verdict in a wrongful death tractor trailer case on August 23, 2019. This record-setting verdict is believed to be the largest wrongful death tractor trailer verdict in American history. PWMC represented the husband and surviving daughter of Judy Madere who was killed, along with her sister, daughter, and two grandchildren, in a fatal head-on collision with a large commercial tractor trailer. The defendants in the case included the trucking companies Schnitzer Industries, Inc., Schnitzer Steel Southeast, Inc., and the driver of the tractor trailer. After hearing the evidence and deliberating for less than hour, the Muscogee County, Georgia jury returned one of the largest civil verdicts on record.
