John D. Flowers
AssociateJohn focuses his practice on a variety of areas, including trucking, automobile and motorcycle wrecks, personal injury, premises liability, professional negligence, class actions, and wrongful death.
John was raised in Columbus, Georgia. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in history in 2020. John then attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2023. While at Mercer, John thrived in advocacy competitions and graduated as the most decorated student-advocate in Mercer Law history. Among other accomplishments, John won the 2023 National Moot Court Competition in New York City, NY, where he was named “Best Oralist,” as well as the 2022 Allstar National Mock Trial Competition in St. Petersburg, FL, where he beat Harvard and UCLA and was named “Best Advocate.”
John was elected by his peers to be President of the Mercer Advocacy Council and Articles Editor for the Mercer Law Review. He received the Walker P. Johnson, Jr. award for ethics and professionalism, as well as the Faculty Award for Most Outstanding Senior. He was the only student in his law school class to concurrently compete on both the moot court and mock trial teams while serving on the Mercer Law Review.
Immediately after law school, John returned to Columbus and started practicing at Peak Wooten McDaniel & Colwell LLP. John loves preparing cases for trial and has valuable trial experience in Georgia courts. In his first six months practicing, he has already helped secure more than $50 million in settlements and verdicts for our clients. John is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Columbus Trial Lawyers Association, Columbus Bar Association, and the Historic Columbus Foundation.
John lives in Columbus with his wife, Erin, and attends St. Paul United Methodist Church. When he is not in the office, John enjoys spending time with family and helping coach Mercer’s mock trial and moot court teams.
